Item Summary

These photographs present several of the "ruins" scattered across the landscape of the Helderberg Mountains of upstate New York. The Helderbergs are located in western Albany County, an area of striking beauty and geographical contrasts. Settled in the early Colonial period, the Helderbergs were once part of the vast estate owned by the "Old Patroons." As such, the region is dotted with many old and interesting buildings, stone walls, and various other structures. These photographs display not just buildings, but also vehicles, furniture, boats, and natural wonders, all of which are in a dilapidated state. In the Helderbergs, there is a constant struggle between Man, Nature and Time, and these photographs strive to document that conflict.

This is a 12-month calendar, and includes all major U.S. holidays.

About the Photographer

Richard Vang first started seriously photographing the many places in which he's lived and traveled in 1984. Since then, he has had his photos published in books, magazines, newspapers, corporate publications, newsletters, and web sites.
